In this paper we consider the problem of fitting an affine subspace to
set of points.  Two important special cases of this problem were
solved by Pearson in 1901.  In 1986 Sp\"ath solved the general
problem.  The purpose of this paper is to discuss the computational
aspects of this work, including the use of weights and windowing.
