Highlights of the December 11, 2003, meeting of the College Park Senate

1. PCC proposal on sanctions to students in the MBA program who are found responsible for violating the Student Code of Conduct or the Code of Academic Integrity was discussed. There was a lot of discussion whether academic sanctions are appropriate for ethical violations. Passed 53-20.

   • Academic Incentives, efficiencies, and effectiveness: Provost William Destler
   • Administration: Incentives, Efficiencies, and Effectiveness, Vice President John Porcari

   • Fundraising, Vice President Brodie Remington - Discussion: If successful, maybe state will further cut university appropriation. Agreed that this is a worry and a constant problem.
   • Graduate Student Success, Vice President Dennis O'Connor
   • Undergraduate Rates/Success Rate, Dean Donna Hamilton

3. New business: February 23, 2004 - Alert campus that undergraduate student research presentations in Annapolis. Seeking proposals so state can be convinced that university is worth supporting.
