Highlights of the Oct 14, 2002, meeting of the College Park Senate
- Moved and approved:
A resolution reaffirming the University's committment to academic
freedom. This was done in light of recent opposition from various
persons to the selection of the new first-year book, The Laramie Project.

- Moved and approved:
Procedures for undergraduate citations in the College of Health and
Human Performance.
- Elected: Dr William Stuart, as member of the Council of
University System Faculty.

Questions and Answers: President Mote spoke to the Senate and was
available for questions and answers. Among other things, he talked
about an effort to create a State-wide constituency -- formed of
parents, students, businesses, and others -- for higher education,
that would be highly visible in Annapolis.
