The Senate Faculty Affairs Committee recommended two changes to APT
Policy:
(i) to insert the following sentence to section IV, part C, para 1 of
the APT Policy:
"An auxiliary panel may be created to make the recommendations on new
appointments, which must be considered outside the academic year if a
sufficient number of members of the regular committee are not
available. Such a balanced auxiliary panel shall be drawn from the
present and recent members of the campus-level review committee. When
an appeal of an adverse decision results in a second hearing at the
campus level, a similarly balanced panel shall be formed from recent
members of the campus-level review committee who have not partipated
previously in the case."
(ii) to amend the last para of Section IV to read as follows:
"When the President has completed his or her review of the tenure or
promotion cases in a given academic year, the list of members of the
unit, college, and campus committees whose terms hae ended shall be
made public."
Both motions passed.
It was moved, and approved, that a review of Dining Service
policies, esp in regard to student fees, would be forwarded to the
Senate Executive Committee for consideration. It was pointed out that
there is a $193 service charge added to every meal plan offered to
students.
