Electronic Submissions for Papers

General Information

We are using a new web-based submission system, called Echelon, which has been developed at UMIACS at the University of Maryland. If you have any questions or experience problems in the submission process, please send email to David Mount or Yang Wang.

Note that this page is only for use in submitting papers. For instructions on submission of videos and multimedia, please consult the Call for Videos and Multimedia.

The submission process consists of two steps.

Submissions are accepted in either postscript or PDF formats. Please consult the Submission Guidelines for information on the format and length of extended abstracts for papers.

The server imposes a 10 megabyte limit on the length of each submission. (If you have a longer abstract, please contact the conference chairs.) Otherwise, it performs no checking for validity of the submitted file. It is the responsibility of the submitting author to verify that the file's format is valid.

Submission should be formatted for US Letter printing (8.5 by 11 inches). If you use dvips, the appropriate command is

dvips -t letter YOUR_FILE.dvi
If you use another mechanism for generating PostScript, please contact your technical support people.

If submitting a PDF file from TeX/LaTeX, ensure that it does not contain Type 3 fonts, that it meets PDF specifications, that all fonts are embedded and that it is easy to read online by the committee members. The program pdflatex works well. If you use standard latex and dvips, the following command will generate an appropriate postscript file for conversion to PDF.

dvips -P pdf -t letter YOUR_FILE.dvi
The conversion to PDF can be done using programs such as distill or ps2pdf.

Step 1: New Account

Before submitting a paper, first, please register for a new account. This will involve giving your email address, a password, and contact information. Once your account has been set up, you will be returned to this page to log in to the server. Once your account is set up, you will be able to submit papers.

Step 2: Log In

Once your account has been set up, please log in to the server to submit your paper.

If you have forgotten your password, click here to have it emailed to you.
