After a discussion we (the students in AVW3220) had last week, we decided to revive the DB Chat. The idea is meet once a week to have lunch and chat about (mostly but not exclusively) DB related stuff. Topics of discussion include work in progress, interesting papers/articles/..., simple or complex practical problems (e.g. "How can I get emacs to display comments in MediumSpringGreen?" or "How can I debug my multi-threaded program?"), etc. This chat is intended to be completely informal (i.e. no slides) so that it requires no preparation time and attracts more people.

The meetings are going to be held on Thursdays at noon in AVW3258. In the (near) future we'll try to reserve a conference room more suitable for chat and lunch. Depending on the weather and the topic, we may occasionally move to some place outdoors (and have BBQ :-)

You are welcome to participate in these meetings, specially if you have good ideas about discussion topics or lunch!
