Spring 1999

Tuesdays, 12:30-1:45, AVW 3258

This is a once-a-week discussion/reading group for students, faculty and staff who are interested in examining current and emerging topics of interest in the database and information systems research world.

We will decide on a reading list during the first two meetings.

All participants will be required to present and lead the discussion for one or more papers during the course of the semester. In addition, all attendees are expected to participate vociferously in the discussions (i.e. they must have read the assigned paper in advance). There will be no exams or projects. Lunch will be optional, but be advised that bringing good desserts for everyone certainly won't do any harm to your grade.

Feel free to send any questions you have to franklin@cs, or just show up to the first meeting on Tuesday, February 2nd.

For more information on this and other happenings in the DB group, you can subscribe to the dbchat mailing list using this this form or by sending a short message to dbchat-request@cs.umd.edu. You can also check out the course's web page at: http://www.cs.umd.edu/areas/db/dbchat.html.
