Pavel Zezula
Biographical Note
Dr. Pavel Zezula received the M. Sc degree and the Ph. D. degree
in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Brno
in 1972 and 1986, respectively. He has a permanent position as
a Senior Scientist at the Center of Information Services of
Technical University, Brno where he has been working since 1972.
He also worked as a Visiting Professor at the IEI, National
Research Council, Pisa and the University of Bologna, Italy, for
three years. He was the leader of a national research project
aimed at research and development of a relational data base
management system for hierarchical data structures from 1976 to
1980. He also worked as an external collaborator of ESPRIT
Project No. 28, MULTOS (Multimedia Office Server), ESPRIT II
Project No. 3070, FIDE (Formally Integrated Data Environment),
and ESPRIT III Project No. 9141, HERMES (Foundations of High
Performance Multimedia Information Management Systems). He
presents advanced courses on database systems and storage
structures at the Technical University of Brno. His current
research interests include storage structures and indexing
mechanisms for multimedia and object-oriented databases, parallel
data processing, and performance modelling.
