Jonathan Katz Named MC2 Director
Professor Jonathan Katz has been named Director of the Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2) for a three year term.
Katz is an international leader in cryptography, secure communication and authentication protocols, and game-theoretic analysis of cryptographic
systems. He has an outstanding publication record with over 100 papers in conferences and 20 papers in journals. Out of these, over 25 papers havereceived more than 100 citations each. In addition, he has co-authored the best-selling textbook “Introduction to Modern Cryptography” that has beenadopted for cryptography courses at over 50 universities including Harvard, Stanford, Brown, Columbia, UC Berkeley, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Universityof Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Princeton, and Tsinghua. Jon’s research has been extensively funded by NSF, DARPA, and ARL.
Katz succeeds outgoing Director Professor Michael Hicks, whose leadership oversaw the opening of MC2's office space and the hiring of four faculty members.
