For those of you who are new to UNIX, you should learn the basics as quickly as you can. Since you may not have a class account, you should use your WAM account. If you don't have a WAM account, go to CSS 1400 and ask where you can get a WAM account.

Here are the basics of what you need:

One is on UNIX and the other is on emacs. Quickly skim over the short ones, and then read the long ones as you get the chance. Realize they may be somewhat out of date (mostly because the OIT system changes a little from time to time). Also, realize you will be running some of this on a WAM account, not a class account.
