For one of the following type of devices below, write a one page usability report: What tasks is the device used for?  Who is the intended audience?  How well do they work?  What is difficult, and what works well?  Finally, make suggestions for improvements – within likely real-life constraints (budget, production, size, etc.)  Please include a sketch (or pictures) of the original and redesigned device (in addition to your one page writeup). For this first assignment, you must examine (at least) 2 examples inside the type you picked.

• Remote controls. They can be used to control any device, except for remote controls that are designed for keychains (cars, alarms, etc.)  The goal is to look at remote controls that control devices with a fair amount of complexity.

• Car entertainment systems. It can be any kind of system which provides at least a CD player and a tuner. Integrated system like the one in the new BMW 7 series are OK.

• Cell phones

• MP3 players
