Over the course of the semester there will be several required readings. However, in addition to these required readings you will be expected to read supplemental material on a subset of the topics we cover. You will need to maintain an annotated journal of all of your readings for this class. For each book excerpt, article, web page, etc. that you read for this class, your journal must contain the following:

     * the date you read it
     * bibliographical reference for the reading
     * where/how you found the reading and why you selected it
     * one paragraph summary of the contents of the reading
     * bulleted highlights of things you found interesting in the reading

At the end of each set of course slides, there will be URLs for some documents that provided some of the information on the slides. You can select some of these as supplemental readings. You are also required to find other sources of information; either on the web, in print magazines and/or newspapers, or books. The goal is to cover a good breadth of topics at a general level, and then investigate two or three topics in more depth.

You will need to maintain this journal as a word processing document (Microsoft Word preferred, but others acceptable as long as I can view them on my computer as editable files). At several points during the semester I will ask you to e-mail your current (cumulative) journal to me at HonorsPhotography@gmail.com. You will need to send it to me within two days so that I can review and grade it and provide feedback as necessary.
