Midterm is on Thursday: 5-6
questions, 80 minutes, covers up through 10/9/2008.
Question & Answer review session
on Wed 10/15 from 5pm to 6pm in the classroom where the class meets (we may
move if it is in use).
Office hours: Extra office hours
today from 4:30 to 5:30 in AVW 3223.
Homework problem 5.5 is pretty hard
--- therefore, I'll count it as extra credit (6 points for a correct solution).
Here are some hints: sort the lines by their slope, and apply the
divide-and-conquer framework, dividing the lines into two, equally sized
groups. The recursive calls should return both the visible lines in the
subproblem, as well as some intersection points.
Office Hours: I have to be away for
office hours on Monday (10/13). Instead, I'll have a session of office hours on
Sunday, Oct 12 at 4pm in AVW 3223.
We'll have an optional evening review session for the midterm on
Wednesday evening at around 5pm, in the room where the class usually meets.
Bring your questions.
Unfortunately Jon Kleinberg's talk is at
