CMSC 434            Homework #5            Spring 2005

Due in class on May 9th.

Note: I have set the deadline for the homework so that it due after the exam so that you have some extra time to do a good job of writing up your evaluations. I would suggest you still do a first pass at evaluating the sites or applications before the exam as practice with heuristic evaluations.

Homework 4 will be an individual effort. The following are the available options:

Option 1: Heurstic evaluation of www.umd.edu and redesign prototype (either actual HTML or "Photoshop"ed images).

Option 2: Heurstic evaluation of cs.www.umd.edu/Ugrad and redesign prototype (either actual HTML or "Photoshop"ed images).

Option 3: Heuristic evaluation of "Degree Navigator" on Testudo (http://www.testudo.umd.edu/dnentry.html) and report written as if it were going to a University committee whose job is to guide the redesign of the resource.

Option 4: Heuristic evaluations of two different applications used to split files, create recovery files, and reassemble files.
