- Wed May 14, 5:31pm: Make sure all the recorded scores in grades.cs.umd.edu are correct. We will not address grading concerns on Friday (day of the final exam). The last day you have to report any problems is tomorrow Thursday (May 15 at 5:00 pm).

- Wed May 14, 1:18pm: Homework #5 scores are now available. If your code was not in the submission you did or the report was missing (according to the grading information in grades.cs.umd.edu), then just e-mail the code and the report to Liping (liu07@cs.umd.edu) and we will regrade the homework (we will consider it an ontime submission). Make sure you put on the subject line (HOMEWORK #5 Regrade). For any other concerns about the grading, please see a TA (any) during office hours. - Tue May 6, 10:33am: Course Announcement: CMSC 297 (Fall 2008), 1-Credit P/F (Only requirement is attendance), FORMAT: Every lecture a faculty will come to our class and give a talk on their research area. The goal is to get the students thinking about research projects. This is NOT just for honors students. Any student who is interested in doing research should take it.

The class prototype reads: public boolean sendFriendInvite(String acceptingPersonName, String invitedPersonName) The interface prototype reads: public boolean sendFriendInvite(String invitingPersonName, String invitedPersonName) Just change acceptingPersonName to invitingPersonName in the class prototype.

- Wed Apr 9, 10:18 am: In the Resources section of the class web page you will find a link named "Composition vs. Inheritance". It provides a good example of why we should favor composition over inheritance.

- Mon Apr 7, 4:09 pm: Regarding Homework #4: When we specify "You need to design the classes/interfaces required..." it means you should come up with classes and interfaces that represent the functionality of the model (MVC) component associated with Flickr. Keep in mind you can use abstract classes. By the way, loading photos is part of the model.

- Thu Mar 13, 10:42 am: Regarding tomorrow's lecture (Friday March 14): Feel free to attend any of Nelson's lectures (all of them will cover the same material). Lectures take place at 9am, 10am (yes 10), 11am, and 12 noon, in the usual classroom.
- Wed Mar 12, 10:15 am: Regarding projects in this course (PLEASE READ). We expect students to complete projects on their own according to the open/closed policy specified in the syllabus. Asking other people or companies (e.g., online services) to implement projects violates academic integrity requirements. Note that academic dishonesty includes not only cheating, fabrication, and plagiarism, but also includes helping other students commit acts of academic dishonesty by allowing them to obtain copies of your work. Cases of academic dishonesty will be dealt with harshly.
