UM Tour

Description

The UM Tour application for the iPhone/iTouch provides audio and visual tours of the University of Maryland campus based on GPS location. The application will be targeted toward people visiting the campus for the first time and those who would like to learn about the environment and history of the University of Maryland.

  1. Interactive Tour Guide

  2. Select an event on the map and be presented with pictures and an audio clip

  3. Plays events automatically when you’re within certain radius!

  4. Create your own tours! (…in version 2.0…)

WMUC 88.1 FM, the University of Maryland’s on-campus radio station, is located above the south campus dining hall.  This application extends and refocuses the services offered by the WMUC to the mobile platform of the iPhone.

Easily capture, remember, and share "postcards:" collections of pictures, text, audio, geographic locations, and other media.  Users will be able to take a picture, flip it around, and add anything to the back.  Why iPostcard?

Fire Hydrant Locator

Description

Firemen are usually not afforded the luxury of researching fire hydrant locations when responding to emergencies. This iPhone app allows a Fireman to search for fire hydrants en route to an emergency. A hydrant locator could expedite response time and potentially save lives, and benefits from the following features:

  1. Map View Rendering Multi-Color Hydrants as per NFPA standards

  2. Crowd Sourcing Entry allows users to enter/update hydrant information.

  3. Reverse Geocoding in absence of GPS.

  4. GPS location of user's location.

  5. Bounding Box to select more precise search location.
