The following is a basic description of one of the project options available this term.
The general phase 1 rules and hardware rules apply to whichever specific project option you choose.

Design Your Own Project Proposal
If after looking at the other project options you have an idea for an application that you would strongly prefer to do, you have the option of writing a proposal for a "custom" option (in quotes since each option has much room for customization with its theme). This must be a high-level proposal of what the application is, its target audience and the general physical specifications of the environment.

If you choose to apply for this option, your pitch will take the place of the "pitch-back" part of phase 1, and is due via e-mail to me at egolub@umd.edu by 8pm on February 5th. Your proposal must be clear and easy to follow. If it is vague, it will almost certainly be rejected. If your proposal is not accepted, you will need to choose one of the existing options. Your group should also have selected one of the other options as a "backup" in case we cannot work out a suitable project from your proposal.

Remember, we are focusing on the user interface in this class, so the problem you propose must have challenging UI issues and be of significant scale.
