Old Announcements:
- 7/24/08 - I'll be having extra office hours on Friday,
July 25, 2008 from 8:30am-10:45am in AVW #1112 for last minute questions.
My office hours in the afternoon will be cancelled that day.
- 7/21/08 - The "End-of-Course" Celebration will be on
Monday, 7/28/08 from 11:00am-12:30pm (when class normally is) in AVW #3258. Lunch will be provided. While you are not required to come, I hope that all of you will come!
- 7/21/08 - The CMSC 250 Final will be on Friday.
7/25/08 in CSIC #1122 from 11:00am-12:20pm (normal discussion time).
- 7/21/08 - I will hold two review sessions outside
of class to supplement in-class review. They will be
Thursday, 7/24/08 8:00am-10:00am in AVW #3258 and Thursday, 7/24/08 2:30pm-4:00pm
in AVW #3258. I will be taking questions during both review sessions,
so bring questions! I will also go over the 30-min practice exam during
both review sessions, and will do the Relations Review Problems
if there are not questions.
- 7/21/08 - A 30-min practice final has been made.
You may take the 30-min practice exam on Wednesday, 7/23/08 at the following times
(Note: It will not be offered during class):
- Wed 8:30am-9:00am
- Wed 10:00am-10:30am
- Wed 12:30pm-1:00pm
- Wed 2:00pm-2:30pm
- Wed 4:30pm-5:00pm
The Exam will be given in the TA office (AVW 1112).
These times will also serve as extra office hours. Good Luck, and bring a rules
sheet! Again, I will count it as an optional Quiz Grade, only including it
if it raises your quiz average.
- 7/16/08 - Homework #9 has been changed! Problem #6 has
been shortened. Please see the web page for an updated copy of
the corrected homework. I apologize for the inconvenience.
- 7/8/08 - You may take the 30-min practice exam at the
following times:
- Tu 8:30am-9:00am
- Tu 10:00am-10:30am
- Tu 12:30pm-1:00pm
- Tu 2:00pm-2:30pm
- Tu 5:00pm-5:30pm
The Exam will be given in the TA office (AVW 1112). These times will also serve as

- 7/2/08 - The Exam 2 Review Session will be on
Wednesday 7/9/08 from 8:00am-10:00am in AVW #3258. Bring questions!
Also, I will go over the solutions to the practice exam then.
- 7/2/08 - I will make a 30-min practice exam.
If you would like to take it, you may take it during tuesday outside of
class and
I will proctor it. I will then grade all the taken practice exams and give them back
Wednesday. You do not have to take the practice exam.
The grade of the practice exam will be an optional quiz grade,
which will be averaged in if and only if it raises your course average.
- 6/26/08 - The date of Exam 2 has been moved back 1 day to
Thursday, 7/10/08 (in class) so that the Counting/Probablility Unit Review will be
before the exam (I spent an extra lecture on Induction).
If anybody has a conflict or a preference otherwise, please let me know.
The Syllabus and
the Tentative Class Schedule
have been updated.
- 6/16/08 - Peter's Wednesday office hours on 6/18/08 (this
Wednesday only) have been moved from 2:00pm-3:00pm to 9:00am-10:00am. They will be at their
original time next week.
- 6/13/08 - The Exam 1 Review Session will be in AVW #3258
on Tuesday 6/17/08 from 8:00am-10:00am. Feel free to bring questions!
- 6/13/08 - The Optional Homework 3.5 (not required and has no
due date), and Number Theory Review Problems have been posted. I will do the
"Review Problems" from the Number Theory Review Problems
in class on Monday.
- 6/11/08 - Permanent Office hours have now been posted!
They start Thursday 6/12/2008. I (Peter) Have office hours 12:30pm-1:30pm today (
Wednesday).
- 6/7/08 - Reminder! Class and discussion are in
EGR 3114 this week from Mon 6/9/08 - Friday 6/13/08.
- 6/7/08 - This week, the TA and I are attending a conference
here on campus from Mon-Wed.
I (Peter) will have the following office hours:
- M (6/9/08): 9:30am-10:30am (AVW #1112), 12:30pm-1:30pm (After class)
- T (6/10/08): 12:30pm-1:30pm (After class)
- W (6/11/08): 12:30pm-1:30pm (After class)
The TA will not be having office hours those three days.
On Monday, we will talk more about permanent office hours,
so office hours are again TBA.
