Corporate partners
The University of Maryland, College Park is the flagship campus of the University System of Maryland. It is located a few miles northeast of Washington, D.C., 30 miles south of Baltimore, and 30 miles west of Annapolis. The Computer Science Department at UMCP has been granting degrees in computer science for over 25 years. It is one of the university's strongest academic units, and its education programs are highly regarded. Recent surveys rank the computer science program in the top 12 nationwide and sixth among public universities.
Our Partners in Computing program is designed to support industrial partners of Computer Science in recruiting both undergraduate and graduate students and participating in joint research projects with Computer Science faculty. Participating companies provide funds that are used to support undergraduate fellowships, equipment and travel to conferences for graduate students, and research support for Ph. D. students working on projects of joint interest to the partner and Computer Science faculty. Graduate students supported by partners often spend summers or a semester interning at one of the partners facilities. The program was established in 2001 and currently has seven members:
- Aerospace Corporation
- American Online
- Fujitsu of America
- Honda Research
- Hughes Network Systems
- IBM Research
- Phillips Research Laboratories
