How do I change my password?

Solaris systems

On most machines, run passwd. In a clustered lab, you need to run passwd on the cluster's server, which should be reported in the login message when you log into the machine. If not, you can type cat /etc/motd to redisplay this message. The junkfood lab and Solaris sun ray servers, for example, is a cluster. So you need to log into the cluster server, ringding, before you run passwd.

If you do not log into the cluster server before changing your password, your new password will be replaced by your old password from the cluster server within one hour.

Linux systems

Linux systems all share one password, via Kerberos. To change your password on the linux systems, run kpasswd from any department linux machine.

Windows systems

To change your password on a department windows machine, log in, and press Alt-Ctrl-Delete. Click Change password in the dialog box and follow the prompts.
