Ximian Evolution Auth SMTP Configuration
From the main window go to Tools -> Settings... and in this window
find the Mail Accounts section. For the mail account that you are
using, highlight it and then click Edit.
Find the Sending Mail tab like below, and make sure you have selected
the Server Type to be SMTP and not sendmail. Type in
smtp.cs.umd.edu as the host, that the connection always
uses SSL, and
that your Server requires authentication. Then once you have
chosen those features you can check for supported types. You will
recieve a a notice like the second picture below, you can accept the
certificate but make sure the fingerprint that is shown in the image
below is the same that you recieve. You will given then the
choice of PLAIN, LOGIN, CRAM-MD5, and DIGEST-MD5. You want to
use PLAIN or LOGIN, you will need to use your CS Kerberos5
password
when prompted
Once you have done this you should be be able to relay mail through the
department smtp server.
