How do I connect to the umd-secure network from Leopard?

Leopard's set up is very similar to the above link with one or two exceptions:

Create a new "Location" in the Network System Preference.
After creating it and clicking on the 802.1X tab, click on the Domain drop down menu and choose User:This is where you enter your directory ID credentials in addition to deselecting all the protocols except for TTLS.
