Setting up Apple Mail.app with SSL-IMAP
- If you haven't already done so, import the CSD root certificate.
Mail.app will have serious problems without it.
- From the Mail menu, select Preferences....

- In the preferences window, click on the Accounts icon at the top.
- Click on the Account Information tab.
- In the Description field, enter any descriptive label you like.
- In the Email address field, enter your CS email address, username@cs.umd.edu. Remember,
replace username with your CS username.
- In the Full name field, enter your full name.
- In the Incoming Mail Server: box, type in the name of your
IMAP server. For most users, this is imap.cs.umd.edu.
If you read your mail on another machine, you should already know the
name of that machine. Enter it here.
- In the User Name field, type in the username that you
use to log in to the system that you're using as the IMAP server.
- In the Password field, type in the password that you use to log in to the system
that you're using as the IMAP server.

- Click on the Server Settings... button at the bottom of the window.
- Enter smtp.cs.umd.edu for the Outgoing Mail Server.
- Check the box next to Use Secure Sockets Layer(SSL).
- The default server port of 25 is correct.
Note: if port 25 isn't working for you, your ISP may be blocking it. In that case,
try port 587 instead.
- For Authentication, choose Password from the drop down menu.
- Enter your username in the User Name: box.
- Enter your kerberos password in the Password: box.

- Click the OK button to close the server settings window.
- Click on the Advanced Tab of the mail preferences window.

- For Authentication, choose Password from the drop down menu
