Installing Canon imageRunner 3570 drivers
Mac OSX systems
To use the Canon imageRUNNER 3570s, you will need to download a new PPD from Canon. You want the latest imageRUNNER PPD installer for the Mac OS X.
PLEASE NOTE: The Installable Options tab in step (11) will allow you to configure the printer if you used version 1.81 of the Mac OS X installer. If you used a later version, the Installable Options tab reveals nothing because these are configurable in the print dialog boxes.
The download file will uncompress to a folder called MacOSX.
Open this folder and run PPD Installer v1.81. This will install the Canon PPDs.
Now, to add a printer:
PRE-LEOPARD
- Start the Printer Setup Utility which is located in
/Applications/Utilities
- Since you will need access to the Advanced Properties setup,
you will have to do one of the following two things depending on your version of OS X:
- 10.3 (Panther) and earlier: Before clicking Add, Hold down
the Alt/Option Key to get the Advanced Properties from the drop down selection.
- 10.4 (Tiger): Click on Add Printer, then hold the Alt/Option key while clicking
on More Printers... to get to the Advanced tab.
- Make sure the drop down menu at the top says Advanced.
- For Device:, choose Internet Printing Protocol using IPP.
- For Device Name:, type the name of the print queue (e.g., ps3 or ps4).
- For Device URI:, type in ipp://printer.cs.umd.edu/printers/printqueue where printqueue is either ps3 or ps4.
- For Printer Model: choose Canon from the pop-up menu.
- For Name (ppd), choose Canon iR3570/iR4570.
- Click the Add button. This will add the printer to your printer list.
- To configure the printer, click on the Show Info icon.
- Choose Installable Options from the pop-up menu.
- Check the Side Paper Deck option box, and choose Finisher S1 for the Output Options.
- Click the Apply Changes box. You have finished setting up the printer.
LEOPARD
- Open up the System Preferences and choose Print and Fax from the Hardware section.
- Click the "+" on the left hand side to add a new printer.
- Under the Protocol drop down menu, choose Internet Printing Protocol - IPP.
- For the Address: option, type printer.cs.umd.edu.
- For the Queue: option, type printers/ps3 or printers/ps4.
- For the Name: option, you can replace printer.cs.umd.edu with the queue name.
- For the Print Using: option, choose Select a driver to use.
- From the list of drivers, select the Cannon iR3570/ir4570 option and click on the Add button.
- The Installable Options window should appear. Click on the box for the Side Paper Deck. For the Output Options: choose Finisher S1 and press the Continue button.
- Your printer has been added.
