Installing Canon imageRunner 3570 drivers
Supported Windows systems
Supported department PCs should already have the correct drivers and print queues installed. If you are having problems with a supported machine, please contact staff@cs.umd.edu.
Unsupported Windows (XP/2000) systems
To update your windows drivers, follow these steps:
First, obtain the drivers from any of the following sources:
- Our local copy. (v2.61)
- Canon's Web site.
You want a file named PS3_v261_Setup.exe, or a newer, similarly named file that is the Printer Driver Setup Installer for Windows 98/Me/NT4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003.
Second, double-click on the file to extract its contents. Pay attention to where
you are extracting these files, you'll need to navigate to them later.
Then, add a new printer:
- Click Start -> Printers and Faxes for windows XP, or Start ->
Settings -> Printers for Windows 2000.
- Double-click on Add a printer
- Select Network printer
- Select Connect to a printer on the internet...
- In the URL box, enter
http://printer.cs.umd.edu/printers/queue where
queue is either ps3 or ps4, depending on the queue you are setting up.
- Click Next
- Select Canon from the left column.
- Click on Have Disk
- Click on Browse to navigate to where you extracted the driver files
that you downloaded. Inside this directory, navigate further into win2k_xp
and select W2KPS3U.INF
- Click Open
- Click OK
- Select Canon ir3570/ir4570 PS3
- Click OK
- Choose whether or not you wish this printer to be your default printer
- Click Finish
The final step is to configure the printer's extra hardware features.
- Click on Start -> Printers and Faxes
- Right-click on the new printer (e.g., ps3 on http://printer.cs.umd.edu)
- Select Properties
- Click the Device Settings tab
- Next to Paper Source Options, enable the Side Paper Deck checkbox.
- Next to Output Options, select Finisher-S1 from the list
- Click OK
Remember that unsupported machines must be on the local network or
using the department VPN in order to print. Systems using the campus wireless network
are not considered to be on the local network, and must use the VPN.
