Installing Canon imageRunner 3570 drivers


Supported Windows systems

Supported department PCs should already have the correct drivers and print queues installed. If you are having problems with a supported machine, please contact staff@cs.umd.edu.

Unsupported Windows (XP/2000) systems

To update your windows drivers, follow these steps: First, obtain the drivers from any of the following sources:
Second, double-click on the file to extract its contents. Pay attention to where you are extracting these files, you'll need to navigate to them later.

Then, add a new printer:

  1. Click Start -> Printers and Faxes for windows XP, or Start -> Settings -> Printers for Windows 2000.
  2. Double-click on Add a printer
  3. Select Network printer
  4. Select Connect to a printer on the internet...
  5. In the URL box, enter http://printer.cs.umd.edu/printers/queue where queue is either ps3 or ps4, depending on the queue you are setting up.
  6. Click Next
  7. Select Canon from the left column.
  8. Click on Have Disk
  9. Click on Browse to navigate to where you extracted the driver files that you downloaded. Inside this directory, navigate further into win2k_xp and select W2KPS3U.INF
  10. Click Open
  11. Click OK
  12. Select Canon ir3570/ir4570 PS3
  13. Click OK
  14. Choose whether or not you wish this printer to be your default printer
  15. Click Finish

The final step is to configure the printer's extra hardware features.
  1. Click on Start -> Printers and Faxes
  2. Right-click on the new printer (e.g., ps3 on http://printer.cs.umd.edu)
  3. Select Properties
  4. Click the Device Settings tab
  5. Next to Paper Source Options, enable the Side Paper Deck checkbox.
  6. Next to Output Options, select Finisher-S1 from the list
  7. Click OK
Remember that unsupported machines must be on the local network or using the department VPN in order to print. Systems using the campus wireless network are not considered to be on the local network, and must use the VPN.
