Preparing to send via Email
- Press the Email button
- Press the Email address button
- Enter the recipient's email address using the onscreen keypad. (Note: addresses within cs.umd.edu do not need to
be fully qualified. For example, smith is assumed to be smith@cs.umd.edu).
- Press OK
- Press OK again to accept the email address
- You may repeat this process to add additional email recipients, or you may add FTP destinations using the instructions below.
- (optional) To change the message subject, file name, or other advanced email options, press Send Settings
Preparing to send via FTP
- Press the File button.
- Ensure that Protocol is set to FTP.
- Press Host name
- Enter the target FTP server using the onscreen keypad. (Note: addresses within cs.umd.edu do not need to
be fully qualified. For example, ftp is assumed to be ftp.cs.umd.edu).
- Press Path
- Enter the upload path on the target FTP server using the onscreen keypad.
- Press User
- Enter the username to use to log into the FTP server. Most anonymous FTP servers will accept ftp.
- Press Password
- Enter the password to use to log into the FTP server. Most anonymous FTP servers will accept your Email address, some
will accept a blank password.
- Press OK to accept the FTP destination settings.
- (optional) To change the file name to upload, press Send Settings
- You may repeat this process to add additional FTP destinations, or you may add email recipients using the instructions above.
Preparing to Scan
- Select the File format you want. The Default is PDF. If you want a high-resolution (but very large)
scan for editing or photofinishing, you may prefer to use TIFF.
- Select the resolution you want. The default is 200 dpi. Remember that the scanner can do black and white only, not color.
- If you are scanning multiple pages that you would like to be sent as individual files (one for each page), select the
Divide into pages button.
Scanning with the document feeder
The document will be scanned and sent.
Scanning on the glass
- Place the first page face down on the glass.
- Press the Start button.
- After the first page is scanned, a dialog box will appear. Adjust paper size if necessary.
- Repeat until you have scanned all pages
- Press OK
The document will be sent.
Repeating scans with the same settings
The scan settings are reset to the defaults after each job completes,
but it is not necessary to re-enter all your Email or FTP information.
If you want to run another scan with the same settings and recipients as a previous
scan, the same recipients, just press the recall button.

Press
Recall 1 to recall the settings from the last job, Recall
2 to recall the settings from two jobs ago, etc.
After recalling previous settings, you may make changes to them as necessary.
Done scanning
When finished scanning documents, push the ID button to log out.
