In this tutorial, we will explore the issues involved in developing innovative technology applications with and for children. The process of involving children as partners in the design process will be outlined and discussed. In addition, the challenges and issues involved in designing hardware and software interfaces for children from preschool through elementary school will be explored and discussed. This tutorial will be structured to reflect our “participatory design” philosophy, so come prepared to brainstorm, engage in a variety of technology design activities, and work as part of an
interdisciplinary, intergenerational team!
