Current Team Members

Allison is the team leader/founder and a professor at the University of Maryland's Human Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL), University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS), & College of Education

Ben is the director of the HCIL and a professor at UMIACS and the Computer Science Department.  He works with us to make zooming applications.

Jim is a professor in UMIACS and the Computer Science Department who helps us make robots and interactive environments.

Glenda is a research scientist who makes and evaluates cool software for kids.

Ann is a professor in the College of Information Studies.  She make libraries more accessible for children. 

Anne is a faculty researcher who makes software interfaces for children.

Allison F. is a faculty researcher who designs digital and physical environments (including this website).

Dana is a biologist who works on our animal digital library.

Bobby is a staff member who studies how the children in our team have grown and changed over the past few years. 

Jaime is a graduate student in computer science who makes interactive toys.

Juan Pablo is a computer science graduate student who makes collaborative zooming software.

Gene is a computer science graduate student who builds robots and works with the children and teachers in the Classroom of the Future.

Hilary is a computer science graduate student who works with families to make technologies for the home.

Sante is an undergraduate computer engineering student who makes squeezable computers.

Dawn is an undergraduate elementary education major who does research on children and storytelling.

Nacer is an undergraduate electrical engineering major who builds robots with us.

Wayne is an undergraduate electrical engineering major who builds robots.

Vic is an undergraduate computer science major who is working on several different projects.

Chris is an undergraduate operations research major at Cornell University who is working with us this summer.

Ari is a high school student from Boston who is joining us as an intern this summer.

Alexander is ten years old.  He has worked with us since he was six.

Abby is ten years old, she has worked with the team for three years. 

Jade is eight years old, she has been with the team since she was six.

Cassandra has been with the team for over a year, she is eight years old.

Edem is seven years old, he joined the team last summer.

Carl joined our team last summer, he is eight years old.  Carl and his family are also working with the team to make new technologies for family communication.  

Adrien is a nine year old visiting researcher from France.  He joined the team this year.

Alumni

Jessica was a graduate student in the College of Education who researched how to make the classroom a better place for learning.  She recently completed her Masters Degree. 

Lisa was a faculty researcher who created videos, images and sounds for us from 1998 to 2001.

Angela was a graduate student in the College of Education who did research on storytelling.  She recently completed her Ph.D.

Sheila was an undergraduate student who worked with the Classroom of the Future Project last fall.

Beth worked with us in 2000 while she was an undergraduate computer science student.  She now works for NASA.

Stacey is an undergraduate early childhood education major who does research in classrooms.  She worked with us in 2000.

Chris is an undergraduate at Bowie State University who helped us with our digital library in 2000.

Asmara was a computer science graduate student, who worked with us in the  Summer of 1999.  She is now in the Peace Corps.

Houman is a graduate student in Computer Science who made cool robots and interactive environments with us in 1999 and 2000.

Deborah, then an undergraduate mechanical engineering student, worked with us  in the summer of 1999.

Aurelie, an undergraduate student of art history from the University of Charles de Gaulle in France worked with us during the summer of 1998.  She recently finished her Masters degree in multimedia design.

Eric was an undergraduate computer science student who worked with us in the summer of 1998.

Emily was a member of our team from ages seven to eight.  She left to pursue other interests.

Thomas was a child design partner on our team from age nine to age eleven.  He was a junior researcher for one year, until he went on to high school. 

Joe worked with our team from age seven to age nine and then went on to pursue other interests.

Jack worked with our team from age eight to age ten, then he changed schools.

Hanne worked with our team from age ten to eleven, and then moved with her family to Seattle, Washington.

Isabella worked with our team from age seven to eight, and then moved with her family to London, England.

Lauren worked with our team from age seven to age nine, and then decided to pursue other interests.

Rebecca worked as a kids team member from age nine to age ten and as a then as a junior researcher at age eleven.
