Dr. Hiltz is a member of the Information
Systems department at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Her
research areas include computer-mediated communication, human-computer
interaction, computers and education, computer-supported cooperative work
and group-decision support systems. The Virtual Classroom is a product
of her research in computer-mediated communication. With the help of
her colleague, Murray Turoff, they have pioneered a teaching and learning
environment constructed in software. The goal of this project is to
provide a collaborative learning effort amongst students and teachers for
the enhancement of education. It is her goal to provide a set of
guidelines for educational institutions when incorporating such software
into the classrooms. |
