Transportation

DOTS provides free Shuttle-UM bus service to university affiliates and limited free service to the D.C. metro community. The majority of our transit service is funded by student fees. As such, much of our Shuttle-UM service is routed to serve the student population. University IDs are not required for evening service fixed routes (Blue, Gold, Purple, Green, and Orange), NITE Ride, College Park Metro, Campus Circulator, Courtyards Express, M-Square, University View, The Universities at Shady Grove, M-Square and River Road.

The 104 College Park Metro Station shuttle is an extremely convenient (and free) way to travel from the metro to the center of campus.

Also B30 Greenbelt-BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Express Line provides an easy and inexpensive between the airport and the Green Line.

College Park Accommodations

It is up to you to find a place to stay while you are at the WebShop.  The only requirement is that you are close enough to the campus to make it to the first presentation each day.

While this is a good opportunity to get in touch with local long lost friends, roommates and relatives, there are also some relatively inexpensive hotels near the campus.  If you plan on staying at a hotel please make a reservation as soon as possible so we can try to arrange for more rooms as the hotels fill up.

Our top three choices due to their proximity to the WebShop and the availability of shuttle services to the Metrorail and campus are:

  • The Marriott Inn & Conference Center
  • Quality Inn & Suites
  • Clarion Inn & Fundome

Other hotels will require a car or using the Metrobus and walking.

While the Marriott will in some sense be the best place to stay (it is clean and a two minute walk to the WebShop), the Quality Inn is very close and almost half the price.  Additionally, it is within walking distance to a Metrorail station and has shuttle service to the University in the morning.

Balancing the plusses and minuses Alan’s ordering is: 1) Quality Inn; 2) Clarion Inn; and 3) Marriott. YMMV.
