Homework #1 Passport

Objective

To get a sub-domain name and web host.

Overview

For this take-home quiz you will get your own free sub-domain name and web host. You can get free domain names and web hosting from different companies but the one we will use is: www.freeservers.com . Notice that we do not want you to pay for anything. You must complete this homework without paying a cent :).

IMPORTANT: Do not wait until the day the homework is due as you may not be able to finish it (you need to receive server authorization from the web hosting company and this takes time).

Specifications

You must complete the following tasks:

• Get a free sub-domain by using the above link. The free sub-domain is the second option on the page.
• Using the "MySite File Manager" upload option upload the file index.html. This file will have your name and a list with two of your favorites web sites.
• After uploading the file, you should be able to see the page by using the web address:

Submission

E-mail your TA (costerho@umd.edu) a message with the link to your web page. Put in the subject of the message your name, followed by Passport in parenthesis (e.g., John Smith (Passport)).
