Overview of the Skoll Cluster

Thanks to funding from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and DARPA, we have created the Skoll Research Cluster; which is dedicated to exploring the possibilities of distributed, continuous quality assurance. The Skoll Cluster is part of the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computing Studies (UMIACS) and is partnered with the ISISlab cluster at Vanderbilt University.

The following is a summary of the: hardware, software, and networking equipment in the Skoll Cluster:

  • 120 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4 1u servers, w/ 1GB memory, 40GB disks, and dual nics
  • 1 Sunfire V240 dual 1.5 Ghz UltraSparc IIIi, w/2GB memory 146GB disks and quad Gigabit nics
  • 1 Sun StorEdge Fibre Channel Disk Arrray Racks w/ 3TB (12x250GB) SATA Disks
  • Support for various versions of Linux, *BSD UNIX, Windows, and Solaris.
