Veritas, NetBackup, HP Openview and BMC Patrol management
systems.

Confident administering Checkpoint Firewall, Cisco, 3Com and
Foundry network hardware. Experience troubleshooting colocated
production facilities worldwide. Well-versed in TCP/IP topology,
load balancing, firewalls, traffic shaping, VPN and Network
Address Translation.

Currently serving as principal Systems Administrator for distributed-computing
startup with applications in bioinformatics and computer-generated
imaging. Have developed tools to monitor and maintain global,
massively-parallel supercomputing platform and internal corporate
network.
- Engineered secure VPN connection linking remote colocation
facilities with company headquarters.
- Managed Oracle tablespaces and datafiles to provide more
efficient use of storage space.
Worked in Server Operations and Internal Support department supporting
Network Operations Center and Technical Support. Involved in Y2K
upgrade and certification process.
- Coordinated SunOS 4 to Solaris 2 workstation upgrade. Provided
transition path for legacy applications.
- Standardized Unix desktop environment (dotfiles, etc.) for
thousands of new hires and existing employees.
Administered systems for then-exclusive registrar of all

.net and
.org domains, before ICANN.
- Deployed corporate Intranet; developed web-based applications to
enhance Customer Service.
- Wrote interactive whois client; designed numerous utilities
to manage domain registration.
Though not computer-related, teaching snowboarding at one
of northern Colorado's premiere ski resorts greatly enhanced my
ability to deal with customers (including children) in a
professional, yet engaging manner.
I quickly learned to assess students' learning styles and adapt
lessons accordingly, all while maintaining control over the class
as a whole (Keeping track of a dozen vacationing nine-year-olds
can make monitoring hundreds of computer systems seem like a walk
in the park!)
