My advisor is Bill Pugh. I'm a graduate student at the University of Maryland. I'm graduating in Summer 2006 and have accepted a position as a visiting professor of computer science at Colgate University. My dissertation research has centered on Marmoset, an automated snapshot, submission and testing system for comptuer science courses. Marmoset provides a couple of features not available to other automated testing systems, including a novel token-based incentive system that rewards students for starting programming assignments early, and an automated snapshot recording system that yields high-quality fine-grained work histories for research. Check out the Marmoset Home Page for more details and a list of publications.
I went to Haverford College for my undergrad where I majored in English (and took a bunch of Computer Science on the side) and wrote my senior thesis on Derek Walcott's "Omeros".
