The IIT JEE
The Joint Entrance Exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology is the mother of all exams for engineering
students (IMHO of course)in the examination "season" of India. I've put together a list of books which I've
found useful for the JEE. If you are a prospective IITian, this may be of some use to you. An informative article for JEE aspirants
can be found here. These links
present a slightly different perspective of life at IITM and the JEE.
Linux
Configuring Linux on some machines can prove to be particularly tricky. I had trouble
getting X to work on my ATI Xpert 2000 card. The goodness of my heart made me post this page so that others can avoid this hassle. Here is a micro HOWTO
on how to set up ssh without using a password.
Carnatic Music
Although I am semi-literate in the tradition, I love listening to
carnatic music. My favourite vidhushi is Smt.M.S.Subbulakshmi. Nobody can render the higher
octaves with shruti suddham the way she does. I greatly admire her
generosity. More info on her can be found
here.
-
MusicIndiaOnline This has an extensive collection of
carnatic music renditions by many artistes.
-
Narada Online This has an entire concert by Ariyakudi Ramanuja
Iyengar. In particular, I like his rendition of Thyagaraja's Yendharo Mahaanubaavulu .
- An interesting article about the mathematical enumeration of Raagas
can be found here.
