My interest in event-driven systems goes back a long way. During my MS thesis, I developed a system (called OptiCAD at that time (Dec. 1995); on June 5, 2005, I was told that there is a company by that name; I'm not sure who coined the term first but, to avoid controversy, I am temporarily not using the name OptiCAD) for prototyping event-driven optical architectures. One day, I will put all the associated documentation online. For now, enjoy some of the Mathematica generated images/simulations of some simple optical architectures. These architectures are described in a language called OHDL (Optical Hardware Description Language) that I developed. The system uses the description to automatically generate layout diagrams, conduct simulations, and perform other analyses.
