about me
I am a doctoral student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland.  I am conducting research in the field of Computer Vision under the supervision of Professor Larry Davis.
research interests
My dissertation research is focused on understanding and semantically labeling sports videos. This includes work on video stabilization, tracking humans and inference/prediction of player and team interactions using temporal analysis of spatial features.
Earlier research included substantial work in two areas. First, I worked on sensor network localization problems and then more recently, I worked on learning the topology and transition models for non-overlapping camera networks.
Further interests include object recognition, learning scene models in unconstrained video, and image/video segmentation.

personal
The most important things in my life are my family and my faith.  I consider myself fortunate to be married to my best friend and sweetheart and to be a devoted father to three wonderful children.  I spend most of my free time with them and with friends.  When occasion permits (and it rarely does these days), I pursue my favorite hobby, birding.
