ANSWER:
x=66, y=2000.
The sequence is all numbers that, when written in English,
do not have an e in them.

COMMENTARY:
There is no trick answer except the cop-out of saying that any
sequence can be completed anyway.

I think this is not a stupid question; however, one of my HS
students got it right after getting the hint
