Georg is currently a PhD student at the Human-Computer Interaction Lab in the Computer Science Department of the University of Maryland under the supervision of Ben Bederson and Ben Shneiderman

Before coming to Maryland he studied Computer Science at the University of Leipzig and left with a Bachelor of Science in 2003.

He also studied Furniture Restoration and Craftmanship at the BCUC in High Wycombe, UK and completed an apprenticeship at Tischlerei Laue as cabinet maker in Berlin, Germany.

In his spare time Georg loves to do all sorts of outdoor activities, but especially enjoys rock-climbing and hiking.
