In Class Exercise

Experiment: The experiment will look at the average time it takes to copy text between documents.

• Bring up two Google Docs windows with supplied text in one window and a blank document in the other
• Copy each line of text (one at a time) from one window to the other
• Conditions:
  • Select text with mouse and press ctrl-c, then ctrl-tab, ctrl-v
  • Select text with mouse and choose edit->copy menu, then click on other tab and choose edit->paste
• Train on 3 lines
  • Use this to train on
  • Make a copy to do your editing. Go to file->make a copy
• Do the test on 10 lines
  • Use this to test on
  • Make a copy to do your editing. Go to file->make a copy
• Manually measure entire task and divide by 10
• Enter data in shared spreadsheet. Spreadsheet is here.
• Work in pairs with one person timing the other, then switch.
