I am Heba Aly, a PhD student at the Department of Computer Science in the University of Maryland, College Park. My main research interests include intelligent systems, location determination systems and mobile/ubiquitous computing.

In particular, I am interested in leveraging machine learning, signal processing and AI algorithms with the ubiquitous sensor-rich mobile devices (e.g. smartphones & smartwatches) to build intelligent systems that can help improve people's well-being.

Additionally, I am interested in pushing the status-quo to achieve ubiquitous, accurate and robust indoor/outdoor location. I believe this can open the door for a wide range of new location-based services (LBSs). Also, I am excited about passive crowd-sourcing systems and the different challenges that comes with such data sharing paradigm.
