On Thursday, May 21st, 1998 the KISS Institute for Practical Robotics (KIPR) hosted the DC Area Botball tournament at the National Air and Space Museum. I was fortunate enough to be a mentor for two of the teams entered in this competition (Northwestern and Tilden), and for anyone interested in robotics (whether it's full-time or part-time as a hobby) I suggest checking out (and possibly mentoring/competing in) future botball tournaments.

Botball is a wonderful program put on across the U.S. by KIPR, where high school students (and middle schools) are given approx. 3 weeks to build and program (from scratch) a working autonomous robot. These robots then compete head-to-head in a double elimination tournament of ingenuity and strength.

What follows is a picture archive from the DC Botball Tournament, and a table with the actual tournament results. Also, if you are interested in this program put on by KIPR, they will be hosting another tournament in the DC area this coming April/May and you can follow one of the links to the KIPR homepage for more information.
