Matthias Bröcheler

Profile Picture
My name is Matthias Bröcheler (US spelling: Broecheler) and I am a third year computer science PhD student at the University of Maryland, College Park under the guidance of V.S. Subrahmanian and working with Lise Getoor. My research focuses on the question of how to gain knowledge from the massive amounts of information available today. In particular, I am developing algorithms and index structures to efficiently answer complex queries over large information networks as well as formalisms to learn from and reason over such networks when faced with noise, incomplete information, ambiguity or other forms of uncertainty in the data. Hence, my research connects database theory with artificial intelligence and machine learning.

- T.S. Elliot, The Rock

My blog revolves around the general question of how to gain knowledge from the massive amounts of information available today as well as its social and business implications and my research in the area in particular.
