Welcome to the UMD CS Eclipse plugin update site

NEW: Course Project Manager 0.1.4 available here!

Follow the Plugin installation instructions to install this plugin into Eclipse.

If you have older versions of the plugins installed, then when you instruct Eclipse to look for new features, you will only see plugs that have new versions available.

For example, you may see the Course Project Manager plugin version 0.1.4, but not the DrJava or Clover plugin if you already have DrJava and Clover installed. This web page provides automatic distribution and updates for Eclipse plugins used in the UMD CS programming courses.

Plugin installation

To install the course project management plugin, and other plugins used in the introductory courses:

  1. In Eclispse, click on Help -> Software Update -> Find and Install...
  2. Choose the Search for new features to install option, and click Next
  3. Click New Remote Site
  4. Enter the following:
    Name: Maryland Eclipse Update Site
    URL: http://www.cs.umd.edu/~pugh/eclipse
    and click OK
  5. "Maryland Eclipse Update Site" should appear under Sites to include in search
Click the checkbox next to it to select it, and click Next.
  6. You should see Course Project Manager, Dr Java and Clover available under Select features to install
Select the checkboxes next to them and click next.

NOTE: To update from Course Project Manager 0.1.2 to Course Project Manager 0.1.4, follow the above instructions as if you were installing a new feature. Eclipse differentiates between an "update" and a new feature by the version number, so don't worry if you have multiple versions of the same plugin installed at the same time. Eclipse will only use the most recent version.

  7. Select the I accept option to accept the license (they are GPL software) and click Next
  8. Make sure the location is correct where you're installing it. The default (your workspace) should be fine.
  9. None of the plugins are digitally signed. Go ahead and install them anyway.
  10. Click Yes to make Eclipse restart itself
