POPL97 Conference Site

The conference site for POPL'97 is the Sorbonne, which is located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, the so-called "Latin Quarter." Student bookstores, cafes, movie theaters, and jazz clubs fill this ancient quarter between the River Seine and the Luxembourg Gardens. Many famous institutes of learning are nearby, including the seat of the University of Paris, La Sorbonne.

The Sorbonne is located on 47, Rue des Ecoles. It is easily reached by metro (station Cluny/La Sorbonne), by RER (stations Saint Michel or Luxembourg) or by bus (lines 21, 24, 27, 38, 63, 67, 70, 85, 87, & 96). There are several usable entrances to the building, the most practical ones being

  • 17, rue de la Sorbonne
  • 47, rue des Ecoles
  • Maps and all other information concerning local arrangements are available on-line.

    Registration for POPLD'97 and the co-located workshops will be held in the Salle des Authorites of La Sorbonne, on Tuesday, January 14, 8:00Ð10:00 and 19:00Ð21:00. After January 14, registration services will be available January 15-17, 10:00Ð16:00. To find the Salle des Authorites, enter the Sorbonne from 17, Rue de la Sorbonne.

    The Continuations Workshop (CW'97) will be held in the Salle Dusanne of the nearby Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS), which is located on 45 Rue D'Ulm, about a 5-10 minute walk from the Sorbonne.
