Overview
This class provides an introduction to computer networking.
It covers basic networking concepts and algorithms.
We discuss several existing local and wide area networks
to understand design tradeoffs.
The programming project in this class will be to simulate a network of
ATM switches and to create an implementation of AAL-7 on top of your ATM
environment.
Use the AITS Alpha cluster
for your projects.
This project is large and requires a substantial amount of effort,
including design documents describing your plan.
You will work in teams.
Please read the late policy
and the statement on academic integrity.
Newsgroup csd.cmsc417 available
for both sections of CMSC 417.
TA's class page
