Fractal based image recognition

Nikhil Sahsrabudhe worked on this. Here is a short abstract: A fractal is an entity having a fractional dimension. Fractals possess the property of being self-similar. That is, given a fractal shape, it will be similar to a smaller feature in that shape itself. This property is also exhibited by natural objects like mountains, leaves, snow flakes, coastlines, etc. Because of the self-similarity property, it seems quite natural to adopt fractal based techniques to model natural objects. This is quite true. Using fractals, natural scenes can be created. Now consider the inverse problem. That is, given an image containing natural objects, try to identify those objects. This can be done using some fractal techniques. How to do this is precisely the problem which we will attempt to solve in the course of this work.
