Do not forget that Homework number one is due at 12:00 Noon on Thursday
September 19.  This homework is to be submitted electronically using the
following process:


Create a directory entitled "XXXHmwk1" where XXX is the last 3 digits
of your detective cluster class account.  This directory should contain
a single file entitled "Written" which contains your solutions of the
written exercises portion of the homework.  It should also contain ALL
of the source code, executables, and documentation for the 
programming assignments.  Your name and Student ID number should be
included in each human-readable file.  All of the material in this
directory should be YOUR OWN WORK.  Borrowing solutions from ANY 
other source will be considered academic dishonesty, and prosecuted
accordingly.


Once this directory is created, create a single tar file: "XXXHmwk1"
(or "XXXHmwk1.tar") containing the contents of the directory, and 
submit this tar file using the following command (from your dc account)


~/../rf414001/bin/submit 1 XXXHmwk1.tar


Do not wait until the last minute to do this, late homework will not 
be accepted.  If you submit your homework early, you can re-submit it
at any time up until the deadline and the most recent submission will
be graded.  (So, you can use "submit" as an additional archive/backup
for longer assignments).  Note that the usage conventions for tar 
have changed (at least since I last looked).  If you have problems,
consult the man pages available on the detective cluster.  (The 
conventions are different from the ones supported by other systems 
on campus, make sure you use the man page for the system you're using)


If you have problems with "submit", email me the tar file.  You will
not have problems this time around, but with the projects some people
get very verbose and exceed the size limits which I have set "submit"
to accept.  Don't Panic.  I would prefer you to submit, but if you 
have a legitimate problem with submit, email it BEFORE the deadline.
