The following is a basic description of one of the five project options
available this term.
The general project 1 rules and
hardware rules
apply to whichever specific project option you choose.
CD/DVD Shopping Kiosk
Imagine that you have a kiosk at which you want people to be able to
search for CDs and DVDs, preview tracks and/or movies, and then purchase
their CD or DVD. You need to design the software that will allow users
to quickly and easily buy a variety of products under a variety of
scenarios.
You will need to determine whether there will need to be a secondary
interface for an employee to use.
Consider the very wide range of potential users of this system.
Be very careful in developing your prototypes to avoid the potential
pitfall of following exisiting "standards" that aren't very usable.
Your prototype will need to be populated with real information and will
need to have example audio and video clips (we will discuss how to do
this without copyright issues when Project 2 is posted). It will be
difficult to properly evaluate your interface without a large pool of
audio and video in which to search and/or browse.
