To get a sub-domain name and web host.

Overview

For this take-home quiz you will get your own free sub-domain name and web host. You can get free domain names and web hosting from different companies but the one we will use is: www.freeservers.com . Notice that we do not want you to pay for anything. You must complete this homework without paying a cent :).

IMPORTANT: There is no late deadline for this assignment. Do not wait until the day the homework is due as you may not be able to finish it (you need to receive server authorization from the web hosting company and this takes time).

Specifications

You must complete the following tasks:

• Get a free sub-domain by using the above link. The free sub-domain is the second option on the page.
• Using the "MySite File Manager" upload option upload a file named "index.html". This file will have your name and a link to your WAM account 198N folder (the one you created for the first project).
• After uploading the file, you should be able to see the page by using the web address:
  
  http://SUB-DOMAIN-NAME-YOU-CHOOSE.freehosting.net
  
  
• Add to the end of the index.html file of your WAM 198N folder the message "My other web site is: " followed by a link to the web site you created above.

Submission

There is nothing to submit. To get full credit we will look at your 198N wam web site which will allow us to reach the free web site. For example, if your directory id is nelsonp then we will access http://www.wam.umd.edu/~nelsonp/198N. If you follow this link you will find an example of what you are expected to do for this exercise. If we are able to see the web site you set you get full credit.
